For my billboard I wanted to ask a simple question that could be analyzed in complex ways to make drivers remember, and think about it all day. The prompt I selected is “I want a future that is…”, and I want a future that is making education more personal and individualized for students rather than forcing everyone to follow the same academic structure. Doodling is the perfect example of personalized creativity. It shows what the person is feeling, thinking, and visualizes their ideas. Yet even the simple act of doodling is unappreciated or even punished. I want viewers to challenge that idea of doodles being a distraction and think about if they were encouraged instead. What if we went deeper into those doodles, and allowed our creativity to form into something? How different would we see ourselves as creatives if education allowed the space to really dive into our own natural interests? Instead of cramming every student into one type of learning, and unacknowledging their creativity, let’s make a future in education that explores it and teaches students how to develop their ideas forward. Perhaps we’d see more people making a career in their true interests instead.
