Anti-Racist Reading List and Resources

    • Anti-Racist Reading List and Resources

Books and resources to add to your antiracist education.

“The beautify of anti-racism is that you don’t have to pretend to be free of racism to be an anti-racist. Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever you find it, including in yourself. And it’s the only way forward.” – Ijeoma Olou

Whether you’re looking for a place to start, or continue, your anti-racist education, these resources are for you. From Khalil Gibran Muhammed’s work on racist policies that led to disproportionate arrests and incarceration of Black Americans, to Black feminist anthologies like Well-Read Black Girl, these curated lists will help you in your daily practice.

    • I think the NYT book list is a great start in changing the mental narrative we have in our minds about “not being racist,” and choosing to be “anti-racist.” Because words are so important to how we tell our stories this mindset shift has been important for me as I communicate with my kids and the surrounding community. For more practical resources, I have really liked a young scholar Kristina William’s website out of Rossier and IYA at USC. There are great videos, resources, and a glossary to help navigate this tense time and changing world. I would love to know what other resources people are using for both personal reflection and solidarity with communities across the United States.

    • Thanks for posting these! I’ve seen a couple reading lists surfaced on Twitter.

    • This morning I listened to a podcast discussion between Brene Brown and Ibram X. Kendi. I highly recommend it. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/unlocking-us-with-brené-brown/id1494350511?i=1000476611079

    • Two powerhouses in their own right!  I can’t wait to listen in!  Thank you so much for sharing the link!
