LGBTQ+ Youth Resources: Identity, Self-Acceptance, and Health

    • LGBTQ+ Youth Resources: Identity, Self-Acceptance, and Health

LGBTQ+ young people who have lost their usual support systems during the pandemic can find other ways of affirming and celebrating their identities.

Being away from school, teachers, and friends during the COVID-19 health crisis can be tough for anyone, particularly as it stretches on for months. For young people who identify as LGBTQ+, the pandemic may also limit access to the spaces and structures that usually support, affirm, and celebrate their identities. Even if it might look different than usual, we wanted to share some ways that LGBTQ+ young people can find community, affirmation, and celebration of their identities while social distancing.

    • Great resources – thank you!

    • @mmquiz Is there a resource that stands out to you as a “start here first?”

    • @kshah21 the Tik Tok videos are so helpful and easy to share. I used to use Peer Health resources in my former NYC high school educator life I love to see the evolution of the health content and always saying accessible and relevant for young people.

      • @sarahbp I think curated content on topics that make important information accessible is critical. I am still unable to see a six-ring cola wrap and not have an urge to snip them to protect ocean wildlife!

      • I’m so happy to hear that, Sarah! Thank you for sharing and engaging. We as a design team are constantly learning, and trying to engage with as many young people as we can in the process so that the content continues to feel relevant!

In what ways do you celebrate different aspects of your identity? How do your identities and/or qualities promote how you act for your health?
