Your exploration of the Design module topics has taken you deep into the fascinating territory of high school design and helped you build consensus about the kind of school you really want to create—and, beyond that, how you will do it. You’ve clarified your thinking about your school’s mission and culture, the teaching and learning students will engage with, your approach to student agency and engagement, and your strategy for involving community partners. These are the foundational understandings on which your entire high school will stand.
So what are the core elements of your school design, and how will they add up? How will they interact with and reinforce one another, so the whole is stronger than its parts?
Use this poster and sticky notes to capture ideas from your team, identify areas of agreement, resolve healthy disagreements, and establish priorities. Revisit the concept you created at the end of Begin and revised at the conclusion of the Discover phase, then incorporate what you’ve learned in Design. If your thinking has changed, try to get clearer on how and why. As you did before, start with some brainstorming. And be sure everyone contributes!
