Transforming High School at Scale

For more than a decade, we’ve partnered with students, educators, and communities to reimagine what high school can be. That work has shown us that transformation is not only possible—it’s scalable.

We’re now building on that experience to tackle the full picture: shaping policies that ensure every student has access to meaningful, future-ready learning. This effort reflects our commitment to turning proven innovation into policy—so high school works for every student, not the exception, and success becomes the standard everywhere.

Grounded in what we’ve learned and driven by the possibilities ahead, The Future is High School presents a vision for high school that meets the demands of our rapidly evolving world.

At the center of this first-of-its-kind report are 10 policy actions designed to help states create the conditions for real, lasting impact for all students. Building on progress states are already making, these actions show how policy can expand opportunity and ensure students gain the skills and knowledge that matter most after high school. Together, these actions lay the groundwork for transformation that begins in schools, spreads across communities, and unlocks opportunity for every student.

On the road to change

Transforming high school will take all of us. That’s why we’re hitting the road on a national bus tour, sharing insights from The Future is High School and sparking conversations in communities across the country. Along the way, we’ll bring together students, parents, educators, employers, and policymakers to spotlight what’s working, dig into our biggest challenges, and help everyone understand their role in shaping the future of high school.

This isn’t about reform—it’s about reimagining what high school can be and inviting the entire country into that conversation.
