Geoffrey Canada

Board Member

Geoffrey Canada is president of the Harlem Children’s Zone, a nonprofit organization based in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood, that aims to end child poverty through innovative education programs. In recognition of his work at HCZ, he was named one of TIME magazine’s “100 Most Influential People,” and one of Fortune magazine’s “50 Greatest Leaders in the World.” Geoffrey served as co-chair of the New York City Commission for Economic Opportunity, and was appointed to the New York State Governor’s Council of Economic and Fiscal Advisors. A South Bronx native, Geoffrey is committed to helping children in Harlem and similar neighborhoods across the country.

Emerson Collective

XQ works in direct collaboration with Emerson Collective, which is dedicated to removing barriers to opportunity so people can live to their full potential. Established and led by Laurene Powell Jobs, Emerson’s work focuses on education, immigration reform, the environment, and other social justice initiatives. XQ is an independent affiliate of Emerson Collective.
