The XQ community of teachers, school leaders, students, and XQ staff had an inspiring and busy few days at the 2018 iNACOL conference in Nashville, Tenn. in October 2018. The conference showcased innovations and practices that promote equity, student-centered learning, and new models for high school education in America. Members of the XQ team led nine sessions and delivered two keynote speeches at the event to a crowd of more than 3,000 innovation-minded teachers, school leaders, researchers, and policymakers. Russlynn Ali, XQ’s Co-Founder and CEO, delivered a keynote address, passionately arguing for high school transformation. She was joined on stage by XQ school leaders and teachers, who shared how they re-imagined their high schools and put equity at the center. XQ-led sessions included features from Washington Leadership Academy, Crosstown High, and Grand Rapids Public Museum School, and covered topics like Designing the Next Super School, Starting an Innovative School: Navigating from Vision to Execution, and Scaling Competency-Based Education: Equity-Focused Strategies for Policy and Practice.
