XQ Super School Live

On September 8, 2017, XQ Institute and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) came together for a special one-hour event, EIF PRESENTS: XQ SUPER SCHOOL LIVE, to help the public imagine the future of American high schools together. The telecast aired on all four major U.S. networks—ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC—and combined live musical, comedy, and documentary segments to bring to life the past, present, and future of the American high school. XQ Super School Live featured some of the biggest stars from film, television, sports, music, and digital media, including Viola Davis, Tom Hanks, Common, Kelly Clarkson, Andra Day, Justin Timberlake, DJ Khaled, and Kelsea Ballerini. It also featured a musical finale led by Jennifer Hudson with Sheryl Crow, Max Weinberg and Max Weinberg’s Jukebox, Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma, MC Hammer, Jon Boogz, and Sheila E.
With more than 26.3 million viewers, EIF Presents: XQ Super School Live sparked a national conversation about our current education system and inspired, empowered, and mobilized the public to take action. The televised event gave XQ a powerful venue to showcase XQ’s open-source tools and resources, which anyone can use to elevate public high schools in America and create new pathways to student success.
